Some days stick out from the others and I wanna talk about them, even if they objectively seem mundane. There’s just something about them that makes me want to share and write it down.
I got up at 5am, which I usually only do on office days, and I leave the house at around 5:20. I realized this morning how different my mornings used to be; I still had a dog I had to walk, long hair, and needed breakfast at home in the morning. Now there is no dog, my hair is short and regrowing (and so far I don’t wear wigs at work), and I skip breakfast at home to instead eat at the office. That and prepping some things the evening before make the mornings a lot quicker. Waist-long hair takes so long to wash and/or brush…
Anyway, my bread was moldy this morning, so I couldn’t pack it. Oh well. Only had my lunch (a bit of pasta) and some matcha in a thermos. I arrived at around 6:15am and not much came in all that time, very slow day… I journaled a bit, then took a walk (allowed during lunch break on work time), and had reached out to our data protection officer for questions I still have (both for a database I’m responsible for and for my data protection law exam in two weeks), offering to meet up.
Sadly he didn’t respond for hours and then only had time after 3:30pm, when I usually leave before that. But I really wanted to use this opportunity, so I agreed and inbetween, briefly clocked out to get some additional food and a cold brew (not decaf this time) because I knew I wouldn’t last that day/meeting otherwise.
I got myself a vegan bibimbap with rice, rice noodles, tofu, lettuce and some veggies, some gim jaban, and wakame salad. They forgot my kimchi, sadly, but I didn’t even notice until way later. Went to the meeting and it was a blast, love talking to this guy. I will have to fill out some legal forms tomorrow to send to him.
I wanted to leave after at 4pm, but actually got caught in an hour long talk with another coworker until my boss saw us, laughed and told us to go home. It was now 5pm, and I usually take about an hour home, oof. Got some groceries on the way home, and her favorite gyoza for my fiancée.
Didn’t do much more at home because I was really spent. Office is draining anyway and this was an unusually long day for me, but the conversations were really worth it and I didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to talk about data protection law and make a good impression. :)
