re: the worst thing about depression is indifference

This is a response to tala’s the worst thing about depression is indifference

I relate a lot to the described indifference. Not only does it suck to not be into your usual goals and hobbies as a possible source of joy, but it also makes you feel like nothing you do against that is enough.

You try to do good things for yourself. Cook your favorite food, take a nice relaxing bath, go on a walk, tell people about how you feel, go to a cool place, get enough sleep..
but you feel nothing about the food. You get into the bath and go “well.. what now?”. You walk around outside and it feels pointless. Arriving at the cool place, you’re just empty elsewhere now. People offer their sympathies but you don’t feel any of their love, like there’s a disconnect. You sleep a lot and you still wake up tired.

At some point you wonder: What else can I try? Why is it not enough?
