fyi: micro.blog rss feed clone
Because I found it difficult to understand due to not being a user, I thought I would write about my experience and share the explanation in case others might need the info :)
I sometimes see micro.blog in my referers, meaning someone linked to my blog there. I wanted to find out in what context that happened, and found a sort of profile of my blog on micro.blog. I tried out micro.one in January (and wrote about it here) but deleted it quickly, so it was confusing me why there would be a profile of me posting all my posts since the end of April.
I thought maybe I hadn’t deleted the account properly, or didn’t remember signing up again, but none of my email addresses would work. Then I messaged the support to ask if maybe micro.blog has a feature that shares indieweb blog posts on the feed like that or if someone made an account on my behalf.
Thankfully, I got a quick reply explaining that this happens when someone uses micro.blog as an RSS feed reader to follow you. That's why the @blog.avas.space profile exists on micro.blog, even though it’s not a proper micro.blog account.
So that’s not a profile of mine promoting my posts, just my RSS feed mirrored on there. Just for clarification!
I suggested that maybe in the future they can add a little tag/disclaimer/explanation to such profiles so people know it’s just to hold the feed, but we’ll see. :)
Edit: It’s there now!
