my birthday

It was my birthday!

This year has been rough and going by so quickly, I always feel about 2 weeks behind mentally. It’s been difficult to plan ahead or do things in time with this. Usually, I plan a few nice things around my birthday, somewhat like a birthday week. I just don’t like cramming things into a single day. But this year, my head was just somewhere else all the time and I couldn’t really get the ball rolling on any kind of planning. I’ve also been more wary of planning too far in advance since my health has been so volatile this year. Maybe not just wary, even a little scared.

So how I’ve treated myself for this birthday has been more on the materialistic side since it’s easier - instead of massages or walks near the lake or the nail salon or a painting class, I got myself more matcha and MtG cards. Oops. But they were great, I pulled amazing stuff out of the booster packs and way more than I paid.

My fiancée got us concert tickets for Alice Longyu Gao (experimental hyper pop; been listening to them since the start of this year or so?), and it was super fun!

I’m not usually a concert fan - I struggle with loud volume, too many people, screaming, and I don’t have it in me to stand much or dance a lot. I would rather more quietly just enjoy the music, but that’s not really compatible with my music taste. But I dared to try again and while I had to wear noise-cancelling headphones, it was amazing and changed my mind quite a bit. I guess I do like some concerts. It helped that it was a small venue and only about 30 people. Alice was so cute and funny 💗 I hope I can see them again!!

Looks for the concert (rare ava selfie) very rare ava selfie

Other than that, I got sent flowers by my soon-to-be-inlaws, got nice messages by friends and coworkers, even saw a super kind blogpost that made me soooo happy 💓💘💝💗! And my fiancée cooked and baked for me.

I also experienced the horrors: IMG_0204

Well Happy Birthday to me!

Sorry guys, not enough cake for all of you. I think we can go back now to upvoting cool coding projects instead. I hope at least you found Bearblog and its cool Discover section.
The people who usually read my blog are my friends and some people from here, not a mass audience. I almost unpublished it, but you have to open yourself to the potential of negativity if you want to grow and receive love, and many lovely emails I did receive! I will reply soon.

Then I was off to a game evening with some Jackbox, Gartic Phone, Use Your Words and Spellcast.

I kind of wished I had done more for myself on that day, like a nice bubble bath, painting, embroidery… hair care falls a bit flat now with the buzzcut, but I’m successfully letting it grow out again. I mostly just laid around and things were like usual. Well, aside from the firehose of eyeballs.
