ava's blog

moved my notes vault / wiki to bearblog :)

I wrote here about using Quartz, GitHub Pages and Obsidian to build and host a digital garden-like public knowledge base.

I've decided to migrate it to Bearblog instead and delete the GitHub Pages, the repository and my GitHub account.

I've discovered that it was too much friction for me to maintain this and consistently update it with new notes. It's a bit of an ordeal to keep Quartz updated, see if anything in my design broke, fixing that, and pushing changes to GitHub, and dealing with expired keys every now and then, having to remember how to change and save that again.

Meanwhile here, I can just copy over the Obsidian notes I have that are also written in Markdown, and just click post, accessible via mobile also, no keys, and the design is easy and updates don't disrupt anything :) I also enjoyed getting rid of the little Microsoft bits left in my private life.

It's here, custom domain should work soon.
